Most patients are able to keep their mouths healthy by combining good home brushing and flossing habits with a professional cleaing and exam every 6 months.  We call this continuing care.  At every continuing care appointment we remove the normal build up that collects over 6 months so that your own brushing and flossing will continue to be effective at home.  These appointments also give you the opportunity to be informed about any oral health issues when they are  small and most easily treated. 

 

A typical continuing care appointment includes:

• An update of your medical history

• head and neck exam

• complete dental exam

• evaluation of your gums and bone that supports your teeth

• yearly dental radiographs (x-rays)

• professional cleaning
